Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions on EMDR training and EMDR Certification…we’ve got answers.

I'm new to EMDR, how will it help my practice?

EMDR provides a clinical roadmap to compassionately explore and treat your clients’ trauma, without re-triggering pain that can de-rail treatment or even cause clients to withdraw from therapy. Importantly, EMDR is one of the most scientifically validated and evidenced-based trauma treatments ever developed.

Don’t just take it from us, EMDR is one of the most effective trauma treatments by internationally respected trauma treatment facilities. EMDR has been recommended by the Veterans Affairs/Department of Defense (VA/DoD) Clinical Practice Guideline for Management of PTSD, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS), United Kingdom’s National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, and Australian National Health and Medical Research Council.

How much does EMDR training cost?

It depends on where you’re at on your EMDR learning journey.

If you’re just starting out and looking to get started we offer 6 to 12 hour programs you can purchase for as low as $99.99.

For a more in-depth course with 42 hours of training, and usable skills (but no practice or consultation) our Foundational EMDR Training is just $299.99.

Our complete 6-month EMDR Online Certification Program with over 48 hours of training, 6 live practice hours and 10 hours of group consultation costs $2199.99.

Our advanced training catalogue has course offerings at prices as low as $19.99.

How do I become certified in EMDR?

Our certification courses lead to the EMDR-C certification through Evergreen Certifications.

Students must complete a minimum of 42 hours of continuing education, (including 18 hours specific to trauma, 18 hours specific to EMDR, and 6 clinical practice hours) plus 10 hours of group consultation.

What is EMDR consultation?

EMDR consultation is a professional process in which an EMDR therapist seeks guidance and support from a more experienced clinician. The consultation typically involves discussing specific cases and sharing therapeutic experiences related to EMDR treatment. The purpose of EMDR consultation is to enhance the therapist’s skills, ensure adherence to EMDR protocols, and promote effective and ethical practice. It provides an opportunity for the therapist to receive feedback, ask questions, and receive guidance to ensure optimal client care during EMDR therapy.

Are you affiliated with EMDRIA? Do you offer EMDRIA credits and certification?

No, we’re not affiliated with EMDRIA and our trainings do not lead to credits or certifications through EMDRIA. But here’s the good news — you are not required to learn EMDR therapy through a training provider affiliated with EMDRIA. As a licensed therapist, you have the freedom to pursue EMDR training from a variety of reputable sources, including those recognized by other professional organizations. Our trainings meet the high standards established by our course directors, PESI, Evergreen Certifications and their advisory board so you can earn your EMDR-C designation.

Do I have to be Certified to use EMDR?

No. But certification demonstrates to potential clients that you have the skill necessary to treat them successfully. Here at the EMDR Training and Development Center we’ve got you covered whatever your goals. Whether you’re looking for a way to explore EMDR in depth to see if it’s right for you, all the way to full certification through Evergreen Certifications.
